::Walker Post

Walker's passion for social impact originated as a child when he combed the Chicago Tribune for compelling stories. He drew inspiration from the late, great historian and storyteller, Studs Terkel. Fast-forward a few years later when he declared he was going to become a journalist.

Walker spent the next six years covering issues including mental health, police misconduct, education, as well as national and international politics. He launched his own politics and news website, reported live on Election Night 2016, sat at an anchor desk and, ultimately, concluded his impact would be felt more directly if he used a different lens. Rather than simply writing about the change he wished to see in the world, he decided to facilitate change in the social sector by collaborating directly with nonprofit advocates and impact pioneers.

Walker joined the GreenHouse team as an Editorial Fellow in the Fall of 2018 to support and advance the company’s mission. He is also a Social Impact Consultant at Prosper Strategies, a strategic advisory for nonprofits.

Walker studied journalism and political science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is a news junkie, guitarist, travel enthusiast and a Chicago native. ::
